The Galway Hooker is the tradidtional fishing boat used in the west of Ireland. These boats have three sails and their size generally varies from 28-44 feet. The Galway Hooker was designed specifically to deal with the strong currents of the Atlantic and the shallow waters of Galway Bay. Today, Galway Hookers are more commonly used as pleasure boats than as fishing vessels.
