Product Description

Ancient Fermanagh Mug

The ancient Stone Figures, locally nick named "The Janus" are located in Caldragh Cemetery on Boa Island in Co. Fermanagh.

These enigmatic carvings have fascinated locals and tourists since they were re-discovered on a nearby island in the 1930s. Some people believe them to be pagan idols connected with the Irish goddess Badhbh (pronounced: Bow-ah). This goddess is represented by a crow, hence the inclusion of this bird in the mug design. The Boa Island is named after her.
